SEDALIA CENTER CHILI COOK-OFF

 

MmmmmmmmGOOD!!!!

The SEDALIA CENTER is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Bedford County Virginia – and it is beautiful setting for wonderful Events!!!  Yesterday was the 13th Annual Chili Cook-Off and it is so much fun!!  The nice thing about this event is that it is so Family Friendly and beckons multi-generations to come out and play for an afternoon!

We ate, we danced, we swang, we visited with old friends, admired the children, we played, we shared fun times with our kids, grandkids, old friends and new friends.  And the Chili wasn’t bad either!

HALLOWEEN at TIMBERLAKE – PART I

HALLOWEEN  at  TIMBERLAKE  -   Part I

And so it begins the decorating for a fun filled 2 days at TimberLake!!

We take Halloween seriously at Timberlake!

When I was a kid the really cool thing to do on TimberLake was for the boys to start walking at the "2nd" entrance & the girls start walking at the "1st" entrance & meet on "Pump House Hill!"  There would then be an awesome perfume water balloon fight!  In between the meeting there were toilet papered houses, gooed up mailboxes, egged cars, smashed pumpkins, etc – that was the "good ole days" when innocent fun was innocent – or so it seemed!  Of course there were always a few causalities – I could name names but I won’t!!!   

This weekend to keep the "kids off the street" we have a TimberLake Neighborhood Party hosted by the Viar Family at The TimberLake Tavern!  This is not for the faint of heart – in fact when the lights go down and the strobes & black lights go on – I get scared and I set up a lot of it!!  There are monsters everywhere and everything talks or jumps or glows or yells or bumps you!  We eat, drink and we are a Merry Bunch  - yep and we love to scare the kids!

THE PUMPKIN SUIT!!

I bought "THE PUMPKIN SUIT" back in 2007 for my little Brantley (1 ½),  then I packed it away for the next little angel.

And here he is Brylan (1 ½) in "THE PUMPKIN SUIT" exactly 2 years later!

Next it will be saved for our little "Peanut Carson" due March 2010!  Love Those GrandBabies & I am pretty sure they are the 2 cutest and smartest children alive!!

 But then that’s just Kakie’s & Pop T’s Opinion!!!

AVOCA WINE FESTIVAL

AVOCA in Altavista, VA hosted it’s annual Wine Festival on Saturday 9-19-09.  As you can see the Carson/Marr/Blanks families had a wonderful time!  It was great to meet up with old friends not seen in many years, listening to Island Breeze and drinking some great wine!  Thanks for the hospitality Altavista!!

 LYNCHBURG GROWS – A WONDERFUL COMMUNITY PROJECT!

This past Saturday my husband, Tom and I took out little year old grandson, Brylan, to “GROWING FAMILIES FIRST  at LYNCHBURG GROWS” -  and a great time was had by all!

Lynchburg Grows is in it’s infancy and is a great place to visit.  Located behind the Lynchburg City Stadium at first it looks pretty deserted but wait there are flowers, chickens, turkeys, goats, compose piles and tons of work to be done! 

Lynchburg Grows - and it's only Beginning!

The Hothouses are full of beautiful overgrown roses – who are DETERMINED to survive!

I will SURVIVE!

A well kept secret in Lynchburg, VA – Lynchburg Grows is a great project – look for things to happen here!!
